As a group and as individuals, LJ Hooker has a proud past of helping others. Individual offices raise funds on a local level for a variety of causes including local schools and amenities, research into medical cures or the provision of goods and services for those most in need.

Local Charities, Fundraising & Events

We are active members of our local Chamber of Commerce and support various charities, community events and local sponsorships. Over the past few years, our office has contributed to various fundraising organisations including Agape Homelessness Outreach, the RSPCA, Sanctuary Refuge, Pink Ribbon, Genes for Jeans, Be Someone for Someone, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Sugar Free September which supports kids and adults living with muscular dystrophy.

We have been sponsoring the Feast on Fifth and Cooly Rocks On Festivals and we are currently financial sponsors of local soccer and touch football clubs. In 2021, we invested $5,000 into the development of an innovative Health and Wellbeing Online-Learning Platform through the Palm Beach Currumbin Alliance.

 

Our team also volunteered within our local Palm Beach community at the Never Alone Christmas Lunch which was held on Christmas Eve, 2021/2022. The lunch was held to support locals within the community aged over 60 whom would otherwise be spending Christmas alone due to COVID restrictions and other common factors families face each year.

Our Southern Gold Coast and Coolangatta Tweed Sales Agent, Jo Lynch and Jo Elwin proudly sponsor the Tugun Seahawks Junior Rugby League Football Club. With both Jo's having sons of their own playing for the club, they took a wonderful opportunity to build a strong presence and relationship within the Tugun community by supporting their young boys whilst getting to know the locals.

Since 1928, the LJ Hooker family have been raising millions of dollars for worthwhile causes. Our founder, Sir Leslie Hooker, was a great believer in supporting the community. So much so he was knighted in 1973 for services to commerce and the community. His belief and actions in supporting local communities is one of the cornerstones that has seen LJ Hooker become the iconic brand it is today.

In 2016, LJ Hooker launched its new charity, the LJ Hooker Foundation, to manage the significant funds raised by its network of 600 offices across Australia. The LJ Hooker Foundation is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Non-for-Profit Commission, With ongoing commitment to three very worthwhile national charities, Humpty Dumpty Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Australia and Culture College Arnhem Land Aboriginal Corporation. Our fourth official charity partner for 2020/2021 is HeadSpace.

HeadSpace would like to acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia's First People and Traditional Custodians. We value their cultures, identities, and continuing connection to country, waters, kin and community.

As a group, our contributions have made a real difference to many, including:

• Over $5 million raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Research Fund over a 18-year "Partnership in Caring"
• Over $1 million raised as part of the Tsunami Appeal, which directly funded part of the rebuilding efforts in Aceh, Indonesia.
• Over $1 million raised for SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) research through Red Nose Day activities.
• Over $80,000 raised to assist the Australian Red Cross 2009 Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
• The Bidwell Project through the Habitat for Humanity, which provided a home for a family.
• Over $56,000 raised for the 2011 Queensland Floods
